Junk Junk!!! Rating: 1 Submitted: 11/23/2008 70) If You're Lazy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands! As a morbidly obese man I often struggle to do most of life's simplest tasks. Like walking. And breathing. So, when my tremendous weight eventually caused me to be bed-ridden 100% of the time, I knew that my life of convenience was over. Thanks to some supportive friends who would bring me food everyday it wasn't long before I had completely adapted to my new home bound lifestyle. But there were still a few problems. My grabbing stick was fine for helping me pick up French fries off of the floor, or for changing the channel on the TV, but turning a light switch was proving to be a challenge. There were many nights when I'd have to eat my gallon of ice cream in total darkness. One of my neighbors, who stops by every day to make sure I haven't died, knew about my light switch problem and offered a suggestion: THE CLAPPER! I can't believe I'd never heard of this thing until now. All you have to do is plug it into any standard light socket (my neighbor did this for me), plug in any household appliances into the device (my neighbor had to do this for me, too), and then that household appliance is now activated by the sound of my hands clapping together. The best part about The Clapper is that I can turn two appliances on and off with just one of these handy devices. It took me awhile to figure out the timing of the claps (The Clapper is very sensitive), but fortunately I need to take a break after each clap to catch my breath, so the necessary pause between claps works out. Just remember when using The Clapper that sequence is more important than volume, which is good because my meaty hands have trouble producing a really loud clap. I wouldn't recommend the health issues, boredom or infected bedsores that come with being a bed-ridden fat man, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Clapper to anyone who doesn't like to (or can't) stand up and turn on a light switch. The clapper allows him to easily turn his light off from the top bunk of his bunk bed. It doesn't get 5 stars because it takes a try or two to activate the two lights connected (one controlled by two claps and the other by three). There's no TV in his bedroom but people talking never turn a light on or off (there are sensitivity settings if you would like this to happen)... My sister bought this as a joke for me for my birthday because I kept saying I want a clapper so I dont have to get out of bed and turn the light on. My room is set up with no light fixtures and my bed lamp is in a wierd stop, so it was a pain turning it on and off. I also live alone at home and get scared walking into a dark room, silly paranoia! Anyways the clapper is decent but I think that the spot that its in doesnt always get the sound right. Sometimes you have to clap 3 or 4 times to get the thing on, I just read a review where you can speak and I think im gonna change to that option, it might work better by just saying OFF and ON. I love this product for letting me go into my room and not finding a stranger in there waiting.
